Ninós Para Dios in Colombia!
We truly love Colombia and the people in it! Julian, Carolina, and the Ninós team are like family to us and we were excited to be with them again this past spring.
This trip was even more exciting because we introduced an enthusiastic team of 12 who came from our home church in MN to the Ninós family! It was a huge blessing for the Ninós Foundation to have so many people learn about their ministry to refugee women and children.
The team organized crafts, teachings, sports, etc., and helped with the daily functions of the childcare center. But really, what the children and women saw, was a lot of people who travelled far to show them they are loved and cared about. It was an impactful visit for everyone and many from the team are hoping to return.
For the past 11 years, our home church, under the leadership of the OneLess Ministry, has hosted a 5k run/walk called Stop The Trafficking in June. The goal is to raise awareness of the desperate situation of trafficking and the donations go to organizations working on the front lines. Because of the great work Ninós Para Dios is doing to provide free care for vulnerable children, along with support and counseling for their mothers who work the streets, Ninós Para Dios was chosen as the international recipient organization and received a donation of $10.000! Julian and Carolina have said they never thought anyone from another country would care about what they are doing so to have a whole group of people, along with that gift, is beyond their dreams.
We also were able to provide an extra blessing to the Ninós team through your generous giving. The upstairs of the childcare center has needed a new floor in order for it to be a useful space. As we looked at the space, consisting of three rooms, we were told their dream was to have Wall and Cenet, who are the leadership couple on staff, be able to live there. They have two teenage children and have always lived with family, never having a home of their own. As a couple, they also want to be available 24/7 at the center when needs arise. When we asked about the cost of replacing the floors and making the space livable, the answer was $1,500. What a no-brainer! Steve and I looked at each other and said, "Done"! We wish you could've seen the shock and joy that followed! What an easy fix to change a family's life and to provide 24/7 care. Thank you for helping Java Relief do this!
We are all so grateful for what God is doing in this ministry and that He is blessing them!
