Java Relief, providing breakfast for 50 struggling teens during December.
Last week Java Relief met with the team at Waconia Learning Center where 40-55 teens from Waconia, MN, and surrounding cities attend school. These teenagers may struggle with depression, anxiety, drug abuse, poor living conditions, probation, pregnancy, foster care, things that can make it difficult to attend high school. At WLC, these students are able to learn in an atmosphere that works for them with very small class sizes and emotional support.
Cindy Finke, Targeted Services Coordinator and Principal, said if it wasn't for WLC, these teens wouldn't be in school and wouldn't graduate. But at WLC, these teens are graduating at a rate of 90%!
Many WLC students have been teased for being in this program but we at Java Relief believe that these kids are heros. They have to work harder and overcome more to get to school everyday and get that diploma. They are fighting for a real chance at life where most teens simply go to school and think nothing of it; it's just normal life.
Can We Challenge You?
With your help Java Relief is able to provide breakfast for a month but what a boost to these kids' self-worth if our communities would come-alongside them also! Join us and think about ways you or your business could encourage them.
