Java Relief is a special kind of coffee retailer. We sell high quality coffee that's fresh roasted, on demand. What makes us unique is that we are a volunteer company and 100% of our profits go directly to children at risk. Our hearts have been broken seeing the overwhelming need and sadness of so many of these children. Whether they are orphans, slave or sex-trafficked victims, or simply living in an unsafe and impoverished environment. We feel it is our God-given task to fight for these children — to provide meals, clothing, education and better homes.

Rev Cafe

Amber Hasson and Leanne Leary are both young missionaries with Global Partners in Port Au Prince. Amber has Rev Home, where 26 children live who needed a different, healthy living situation. In the next five years, 17 of these kids will "age out" so Amber and Leanne are creating Rev Cafe! An American-style coffee shop located in Port Au Prince where the 17 kids will work, learn job skills and earn money for college. Rev Cafe asked Java Relief to partner with them in sourcing coffee and of course, and using the Java Relief brand in the shop. Java Relief will be donating all Haiti coffee sales to help this initiative. Now we have retail locations in Waconia and Port Au Prince!

Haiti Coffee Farms

Haiti is the most mountainous country in the Caribbean which makes it an ideal place to grow coffee trees.  In fact, coffee had long been the backbone of Haiti’s economy.  As recently as 1949, Haiti was the world’s third major producer of coffee.

But a brutal dictatorship, a US coffee embargo (which led Haitians to burn coffee trees for charcoal - something most still use for cooking today), natural disasters, and worldwide oversupply caused a steady decline and Haiti now produces less than 1% of the world’s coffee.

Ever since the first thought of Java Relief, we’ve wanted to offer coffee from Haiti.  With a connection from EcoCafé Haiti, we’ve found that might be possible.  Our family flew to Haiti to find a quality bean, and of course, to visit the children in the orphanages and Cité Soleil.   With our amazing friend Luken, as our driver and translator, we rented a 4-wheel drive and started off on what would be a true adventure!

Soon we arrived in the quiet, beautiful, mountain village of Ranquitte. More dirt roads, mostly donkeys with a few motorcycles and even fewer vehicles, it was a step back in time.  We spent some time at the covered, but open-air coffee “plant”, meeting some of the employees of EcoCafé.  Really, some of the kindest men you could meet.  They told us about the jobs they each do and showed us around.  Afterwards, we hiked further up the mountain to the coffee farms.  These farmers have coffee trees that grow on their property, mixed in with all the other trees and vegetation.  The farmers hand pick from each tree on their property and take the seeds down to the coffee plant.

It is truly a grass-roots operation and so clearly benefits the small farmer.  We felt God's blessing to have been able to visit EcoCafé Haiti and Ranquitte. And even more blessed to help the Haitian coffee farmers by selling their Arabica organically grown coffee beans!

Fresh Roasted On Demand. This coffee is roasted locally by our master roaster. Our master roaster is a member of the Specialty Coffee Association of America, The Roaster's Guild, The Rainforest Alliance and is a Fair Trade Certified Roastery.

Organically Grown.  This organically grown coffee is roasted and produced in a USDA Certified Organic facility

Fair Trade. This coffee is fairly traded. Whether "Fair Trade Certified" or "Certified Organic" or not. Many small coffee growers around the planet simply cannot afford expensive certification. To reject these valuable farmers would go against the values we hold dearly. We buy only the finest, highest grade specialty green coffee from around the world.

High Altitude Arabica Bean. There are several species coffee plants, the finest quality being Arabica, which today represents 59% of the world’s coffee production.  Arabica originated in the highlands of Ethiopia.  It is sensitive to hot and humid conditions, and grows at altitudes of 1.25-1.55 miles.  Arabica grown at higher altitudes is associated with the emergence of higher quality characteristics during roasting. Makes for a better cup of coffee.

Coffee Snob Approved! Before we ever purchase our specialty beans, they have passed the expert analysis and cupping tastes of one of the world's best specialty coffee importers/buyers. We continually experiment with new blends, roasting profiles, and search potential coffee varieties for addition to our offerings. We strive for perfection in every hand-crafted roast.

Freshness Guarantee. Your satisfaction is a priority.  If you are not satisfied with your fresh roasted coffee, we will refund the entire purchase price of the product(less shipping costs). See return policy for details.
